Business System Manager

Due to our continuing growth, we are currently seeking experienced Professional in multiple US locations! This Business System Manager position will work out of the Windsor, CT location.
This position will perform the process analysis, needs assessment, and cost/benefit analysis associated with alternatives for their subject matter segment in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
Exceptional communication and business / technical writing skills are critical to this job, proficient analytical and PC skills are a must, as well as:
- Experience in business process documentation and design
- Needs assessment and cost/benefit analysis
- Proficient PC skills: MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint are required; MS Project strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills
- Analytical and detail oriented abilities
Summary: Evaluate the ongoing need for change to our business system in order to complement and support the overall strategic direction of the company. Serve as a subject matter expert representing the individual business functions at Kaman when identifying the current and future business system requirements. Perform detailed documentation of the current business processes, define the future business requirements and evaluate potential solutions for each alternative for the subject matter segment in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. Prepare final recommendations for presentation to the Kaman IT Steering & Executive Committee.
Responsibilities for these key positions:
- Review and understand Kaman’s strategic business plans and translate these into system requirements.
- Perform ‘State of the Art’ software capabilities review: Research software market and review competitive landscape, gather market and business intelligence, identify key business requirements and emerging industry trends, and document key business requirements.
- Assess existing systems capabilities by identifying users of the targeted business process, conducting user interviews, process/application demonstrations, meet with key IT resources. Document strengths and weaknesses.
- Define future requirements and perform gap analysis. Document the process/application changes required to support the desired functionality and/or outcome, identify and document key system gaps.
- Prioritize gaps and impact on the business and develop plans/options to address those gaps.
- Survey/Screen selected packaged software. Create demo script and conduct in-depth software demonstrations.
- Evaluate potential internal and external solutions to meet future requirements. For each potential solution, identify the anticipated benefits and expected costs, resource requirements (time, cost and skill set), and potential risks and risk mitigation strategies.
- Create reports to support quality control and provide management information, generate routine reports including status reports and ad-hoc reports as needed. Prepare final report on assessment of Kaman’s existing systems.
- Assist in developing, updating and implementing procedures for maintaining information in systems. Participate in related systems development efforts as needed to provide input and contribute to a comprehensive development strategy.
- Prepare reports and materials for final recommendation and participate in presentation to Kaman Steering and Executive Committee.
